Choosing a gift she will keep wearing

The difference between jewellery that gets worn and jewellery that sits in a drawer is rarely the price. It is whether the piece fits the life of the person opening it. A woman who wears a saree daily and a woman who wears one twice a year need different things, and a gift chosen for the second occasion by someone thinking of the first is the one that stays boxed.

Three questions settle it faster than any budget filter. Does she wear gold tones or silver tones - look at what is already on her. Does she wear her ears heavy or light. And is this for a specific event, or for the drawer she reaches into on an ordinary Tuesday? An answer to the third one alone rules out half the catalogue.

What to buy for whom

For a mother. Weight and presence over sparkle. A temple collar or a Lakshmi pendant reads as jewellery she would have chosen herself, and the antique-gold finish suits a generation that grew up around real temple work. Avoid anything that needs a particular neckline - it narrows what she can wear it with.

For a wife. This is the one occasion to buy the full set rather than a single piece. A necklace with its matching jhumkas photographs as one commission, and the sets on this page are priced for both together. If she already owns a collar, a long haram layers over it rather than competing with it.

For a sister. Earrings, almost always. They need no sizing, they suit any outfit she already owns, and a pair of jhumkas gets worn far more often than a necklace bought for her by someone else. It is also the safest gift if you are not certain of her taste - a pair she does not love costs her nothing to set aside.

For a wedding or a housewarming. Buy the set, and buy it early. A bridal-scale piece bought two days before the event is a piece chosen from whatever is in stock, which is not the same as the piece you wanted.

Will it arrive in time?

Dispatch is 2 to 4 business days. After that: Mumbai 2 to 4 days, the rest of Maharashtra 3 to 5, and the rest of India 5 to 8. So the honest planning number for a gift going anywhere outside Maharashtra is about two weeks before the date, not one. Shipping is free everywhere in India, and the price on the card includes GST - there is no delivery charge waiting at checkout.

If the date is tighter than that, message us on WhatsApp before ordering rather than after. We can tell you what is realistic for your PIN code before you order.

What the price actually buys

Everything here is antique gold-plated imitation jewellery, and the gifting page says so as plainly as the product page does. The base is Zamak, the plating is gold, and the stones are hand-set kemp and kundan. It is not solid gold and is not sold as such - that is exactly what puts a full bridal-scale set in the hundreds instead of the lakhs.

What it does mean for a gift: it wants the same care any plated piece wants. Kept away from perfume, water and a damp drawer, the finish holds for years of occasion wear. Our jewellery care guide is the short version worth passing on with the box, and real vs fake gold-plated jewellery explains how to judge plating quality generally, including on pieces we did not make.

If it arrives wrong

Every order is inspected and sealed before dispatch, and damage or a manufacturing defect reported within 3 days of delivery is repaired or replaced free, return pickup included. Because jewellery is worn against the skin we do not take change-of-mind returns, which is worth knowing before you buy for someone whose taste you are guessing at. That is the case for earrings over a statement necklace when you are unsure. Full terms are on shipping and returns.

Where to look next

If you already know the kind of piece you want, the edits are quicker than the filters above: temple jewellery sets for a mother, South Indian wedding sets for a wife or a bride, kundan jhumkas or antique gold South Indian jhumkas for a sister, and antique gold Lakshmi pendants when you want something small that still reads as considered. Everything under a thousand rupees is in jewellery under ₹1000.
